Power Flushing is an amazing invention. In the same way that people seem fascinated by what they wash out of their mouths when using mouthwash, they are equally fascinated to see what comes out of their central heating system when it has been ‘powerflushed’.
What is Power Flushing?
In a nutshell a powerflush is exactly as it sounds, it is a powerful system that flushes out your central heating system. Using special chemicals it will run throughout the entire system and along the way will clear out all the muck and grime that has accumulated in there over the years.
Why use a PowerFlush?
Many people will have heard about PowerFlushing when a large gas company (who shall remain nameless) can’t fix a problem and recommend a PowerFlush to solve all your problems. This isn’t always the case though, and a PowerFlush should only be used if all other avenues have been exhausted.
Symptoms that you may need a PowerFlush on your system are;
-
-
- Radiator cold at the top or bottom
- Noisy pipes around the system
- Boiler keeps cutting out for no apparent reason
- Hot water problems, intermittent or non-existent
- Boiler making loud noises
- Cold spots in the radiator when it is on
-
Not all of these problems will mean you need a PowerFlush and we will examine all other avenues first. These problems could be caused by pipes being blocked which causes problems with the flow of water around your system.
Benefits of a PowerFlush
In addition to the piece of mind that it gives you there are many benefits to having your system ‘PowerFlushed’. By having your system ‘PowerFlushed’ you should notice;
-
-
- Radiators heat up faster
- The system is quieter overall
- The system is more efficient
- Saving on fuel bills
- Protection from limescale.

What equipment do you use?
Jaz Plumbing use the best equipment available for PowerFlushing (or so we are told). We use the KAMCO PowerFlusher which gives excellent results and works like a charm.
In addition to the KAMCO unit we will use a mixture of chemicals which will enable the blockages to be broken down and flushed out. These chemicals are all handed carefully and we dispose of them in a manor that is not harmful to the environment.
What does it cost?
The cost of a PowerFlush will depend entirely on the size of the system that is to be flushed. We are happy to discuss the cost of this service before you agree to it and we will only undertake it should you give us the go-ahead to do so.
As a ballpark figure we normally offer the Power Flush service from £300 for a small system and then will price accordingly for larger systems. The price reflects the amount of time involved in PowerFlushing, usually a full day, and also the chemicals that are used.
